6 sessions | Live + Replay

June - August 2026

Nourish your soul this summer.

Summer has a way of slowing us down enough to notice what’s happening beneath the surface—the exhaustion, the overwhelm, the longing for deeper rest and connection with God.

This year’s Summer School Series is an invitation to tend the soul. Through six nourishing sessions led by our Yoga Teacher Training team, you’ll explore Christ-centered, embodied practices designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and experience God’s presence in everyday life.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • Breath as a pathway to peace and rest

  • The connection between body, mind, and spirit

  • Practices for anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional regulation

  • Lament, reflection, and soul care through Scripture and embodied practice

  • Explore the biblical meaning of the soul and how to tend it

Whether you’re in a season of burnout, healing, grief, or simply longing for something deeper, this series offers a space to rest, reflect, and be renewed.

Come as you are.

Bring your questions, your weariness, and your whole self.

Session 1: What is the Soul? A Biblical Exploration of Its Nature and How to Care for It

Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 12 PM EDT

This summer, we will explore the soul and learn how to tend to it, but first, we must answer the foundational question: What is the soul?

In this session, we will explore the biblical understanding of the soul, our innermost self created to commune with God, and consider how this understanding intersects with principles found in yoga philosophy.

Through reflection, discussion, and gentle practice, we will:

  • Examine key biblical passages that reveal the nature and purpose of the soul.

  • Explore stories in Scripture that show us how to tend to the soul, and consider their connections to yoga philosophy in nurturing the whole person.

  • Discover rhythms from Church history for tending the soul in daily life, particularly during times of grief, anxiety, or exhaustion.

By the end of this session, participants will gain practical tools for caring for the soul and insight into how contemplative and movement practices, biblically grounded and informed by yoga philosophy, can support spiritual renewal and a life following Jesus in the unforced rhythms of grace.

Session 2: Breath as Holy Invitation: Nourishing the Soul through Sacred Listening

Tuesday, June 23, 2026 12 PM EDT

Entering into the gift of rest is not something we achieve by trying harder, but by surrendering to the holy invitation already present within us.

In this session, we will explore the breath as a sacred gift, God’s own breath of life within us, and consider how our embodied experience of breathing can become a pathway for communion with Him. Drawing from Scripture and insights from yoga philosophy, we will deepen our awareness of the connection between body, breath, mind, and spirit.

Through reflection, discussion, and simple breath-based practices, we will:

  • Attend to key Scriptural themes of breath, including its connection to the Spirit as the sustaining presence of God.

  • Explore perspectives from yoga philosophy that illuminate the role of breath in shaping our inner life.

  • Practice sacred listening through t

By the end of this session, participants will gain both a deeper understanding of breath as a spiritual practice and practical tools for engaging it in daily life. Together, we will explore how breath can become a nourishing rhythm of abiding with Jesus, offering an embodied experience of rest, awareness, and encounter with God.

Session 3: Fearfully & Wonderfully Made: How Anatomy Informs Soul Care Through the Body–Mind–Spirit Connection

Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 12 PM EDT

What does it mean to live in our bodies as a gift from God? Many of us carry complicated feelings about our bodies shaped by culture, expectations, and personal experiences. In this 90-minute workshop, we will explore a faith-centered perspective on embodiment and body image.

Through guided gentle movement, reflective practices, and group conversation, participants will be invited to reconnect with their bodies with curiosity and compassion. Together we will reflect on Scripture, share insights, and consider how we might relate to our bodies not as problems to fix, but as creations that are “fearfully and wonderfully made.”

This session will include guided movement, personal reflection time, and optional group discussion. No movement experience is required, and all bodies and abilities are welcome.

Session 4: Steady in the Storm: Embodied Practices for Overwhelm and Anxiety

Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 4 PM EDT

When life feels overwhelming, anxiety often lives not only in our thoughts but in our bodies. In this one-hour experiential workshop, we will explore simple trauma-informed practices that help us find steadiness during difficult seasons.

Through gentle yoga movements (accessible seated or standing), calming breath practices that support the nervous system, scripture, guided reflection, short writing prompts, and a brief Yoga Nidra–style guided rest practice, participants will be invited to slow down, become more aware of their bodies, and return to the present moment.

Throughout the session we will draw on Christian contemplative traditions that honor stillness, breath, and rest as ways of attending to God’s presence.

No prior yoga experience is required. Participants will leave with simple practices they can return to whenever the world feels like too much.

Session 5: How long, O Lord?: A Workshop for writing prayers of lament

Friday, July 31, 2026 12 PM EDT

Lament is one of the most honest and courageous forms of prayer — and one of the most overlooked. In this one-hour experiential workshop, Spiritual Director Melissa Reed will guide us in the ancient practice of writing prayers of lament as a pathway toward deeper intimacy with God.

Through reflection, guided writing prompts, and time in Scripture, participants will be invited to bring their grief, confusion, and longing honestly before God — and discover how lament, rather than being the end of faith, can become a doorway into hope and praise.

Throughout the session we will draw on the rich tradition of lament found throughout the Psalms and Scripture, where God's people have always been invited to cry out, wrestle, and ultimately find themselves held.

Session 6: Tending the Soul

Saturday, August 15, 2026 12:30 PM EDT

Parker Palmer writes that “The soul is like a wild animal—tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient and yet exceedingly shy. If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is to go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wildness we seek.”

Alongside Jesus, our sturdy and attentive guide, let's walk quietly into the woods and sit silently as we listen for the longing of our souls to appear. Building on the rich teachings of Summer School, join Caroline for a mini retreat where we'll slow down, breathe deeply, move thoughtfully, and partner with God's Spirit in tending our souls. Experience God's gentle tending through yoga, journaling, and contemplative prayer.
